Maquiladora Supplier Program
The Maquiladora Supplier Program is a major business recruiting and outreach program for the Office of Mexican Affairs. Our team works directly with the management of the Maquila industry to identify the products and services that are most crucial to plants in the Borderplex region.
The program’s objectives include:
- Attracting manufacturers and suppliers to New Mexico that sell to Mexico’s maquiladora industry.
- Determining whether specific maquiladoras are attempting to move their suppliers closer to the border.
- Provide suppliers with information on New Mexico’s business climate, commercial advantages and incentives.
- Bring supplier opportunities to New Mexico’s manufacturing and supply sectors.
“The State of New Mexico’s Maquiladora Supplier Program is a great economic development resource helping all type of industries along the border. In the specific case of Visteon it helped us to gain a new and important Customer as the Program identified ourselves as a potential supplier of parts for another local industry. Thanks to the efforts of the State of New Mexico Mexican Affairs Office, we were able to develop strong ties with this local industry that translated in a commercial relationship, as they sourced our Company with several models of one of the product lines we are manufacturing at our facilities”.
