SANTA FE - The New Mexico Economic Development Department's Job Training Incentive Program (JTIP) Board approved $415,418.66 in funding at its September board meeting. The funding was awarded to eight companies for the training of 49 new employees. The next board meeting will be October 11, in Albuquerque.

Roswell - Today Governor Susana Martinez and Economic Development Cabinet Secretary Jon Barela participated in a ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly-expanded Roswell Rail Spur. Last year, the New Mexico Economic Development Department awarded $99,000 in Local Economic Development Act (LEDA) funds for the repair and expansion of the tracks. The city of Roswell contributed $101,000 in matching funds and $70,000 of in-kind services were donated by Xcel Energy and Southwestern Rail Road to complete the project. This helped save 17 jobs, create two, and will lead to potential creation of new jobs as the new spur will allow for private access of the tracks for the loading and unloading of goods.

Roswell - Governor Susana Martinez and Economic Development Cabinet Secretary announced $100,000 in capital outlay funding today for MainStreet Roswell for use toward updates to Reichman Memorial Park in downtown Roswell. The city of Roswell identified this as a priority project during the creation of its downtown master plan. State funding for the park will cover the construction of a performance stage, seating and lighting in addition to landscaping, irrigation, ADA compliance and façade and ironwork repairs.
