New Mexico MainStreet (NMMS) has accepted economic development projects from five rural communities as part of the Frontier & Native American Communities Initiative: Picuris Pueblo, Pueblo of Laguna, Pueblo of Pojoaque, the Village of Folsom, and the City of Lordsburg. These communities receive professional services and technical assistance from NMMS to implement and complete the proposed project within 12-18 months. Projects must demonstrate job creation, business development, private sector investment, or enhancement of the community’s economic environment.

New Mexico MainStreet (NMMS) and the New Mexico Economic Development Department has awarded $4 million for revitalization projects through the MainStreet Capital Outlay Public Infrastructure Program in 11 MainStreet communities: Alamogordo, Barelas, Belen, Farmington, Gallup, Las Vegas, Lovington, Raton, Roswell, Silver City, and Tucumcari.

The November 2019 Job Training Incentive Program (JTIP) has awarded almost $1.69 million to nine New Mexico companies. Additional trainees will earn an average of $25 per hour, with salaries ranging from $11.67 to $55 per hour.

A private equity venture fund, backed by the State of New Mexico, has finalized a significant investment in an innovative contact lens company that works closely with doctors to provide daily disposable lenses with a proprietary comfort coating. The investment by NMA Ventures into EveryDay Contacts is another example of how state with private-equity money is being used to build jobs and wealth in New Mexico with locally grown businesses.

The New Mexico Economic Development Department has named 15 people to serve on the advisory panel for the Outdoor Recreation Division. The group, which includes representatives from conservation, education, industry, and government, is charged with providing expertise and support, among other tasks, to the new office via monthly meetings and quarterly summits.
