In addition, Sandia National Laboratories and Los Alamos National Laboratory are both National Nuclear Security Administration labs and also conduct research in cybersecurity:

  • SNL’s Cyber Engineering Research Institute (CERI) includes CERL, the Cyber Engineering Research Lab, located in the Sandia Science & Tech Park. CERI focuses on exploratory research in cybersecurity in partnership with academia and industry, and incubates Sandia’s Cyber Security Science & Technology activities.
  • LANL’s research in cybersecurity includes Cyber Insider Detection, Malware Detection, Resilient Cyber Command & Control Systems, Scalable Cyber Data Science, and Quantum-Enabled Security.

New Mexico is also home to three research universities, University of New Mexico, New Mexico State University and New Mexico Tech.

  • ICASA at New Mexico Tech was named a Center of Excellence in Information Assurance by the National Security Agency.

New Mexico provides resources to commercial technologies born here. Two companies that have started with these technologies are Descartes Labs and RiskSense.
